Reading the MENNEKES 93xx series: 9322 / 9342 / 9372 / 9382 compared

93xx is the MENNEKES wall-mounted IP67 industrial socket series. The last digit gives the voltage, the third digit the poles and current. The full 9300–9382 table and the four comparisons people ask about most.

In one sentence: 93xx are wall-mounted industrial sockets, and in the four-digit number the last digit gives the voltage while the third digit gives poles and current. The four models people ask about most — 9322, 9342, 9372, 9382 — differ in exactly those two digits.

Reading it quickly: look at the last two digits

Split the four digits as 9 3 | third digit | last digit:

Last digit0 = 110V1 = 230V2 = 400V3 = 500V
Third digit0 / 5 = 3-pole2 / 7 = 4-pole4 / 8 = 5-poleand 0/2/4 are 16A, 5/7/8 are 32A

Three worked examples:

  • 9382 — third digit 8 ⇒ 32A + 5-pole; last digit 2 ⇒ 400V. So it is a 32A 400V 5-pole IP67 wall-mounted socket.
  • 9342 — third digit 4 ⇒ 16A + 5-pole; last digit 2 ⇒ 400V. So 16A 400V 5-pole, one rating below the 9382.
  • 9322 — third digit 2 ⇒ 16A + 4-pole; last digit 2 ⇒ 400V. So 16A 400V 4-pole (three-phase without neutral).
Two traps: (1) 9303 is 50V safety extra-low voltage and does not follow the "last digit = voltage class" rule; (2) 933 / 934 / 938 are not sockets — they are panel-mounted RAPIDO plugs (IP44), a different product family, so do not assume a similar number makes them the same thing.

The four comparisons people ask about most

ComparisonDifference
9382 vs 9342Both 400V 5-pole IP67 wall-mounted sockets; different current: 9382 is 32A, 9342 is 16A. Choose by the equipment rating.
9372 vs 9322Both 400V 4-pole IP67; different current: 9372 is 32A, 9322 is 16A.
9382 vs 9372Both 32A and 400V; different poles: 9382 is 5-pole (3P+N+PE), 9372 is 4-pole (3P+PE). If the equipment needs a neutral, take the 5-pole.
9382 vs 270089382 is IP67 wall-mounted; 27008 is the same 32A 400V 5-pole but IP44. Outdoors or wash-down take the 9382; a dry workshop is fine with the 27008.

What about 63A and 125A?

The 93xx series stops at 32A. 63A and 125A sit in other number ranges, for example 136A (63A 400V 5-pole IP67 wall-mounted) and 5692A (125A 400V 5-pole IP67 wall-mounted); single-phase and other voltages are available too. Filtering by current in the socket range is the fastest route.

Not sure which one?

Three things settle it: (1) the equipment rating (or the power, and we convert it), (2) whether a neutral is needed (three-phase four-wire = 4-pole, three-phase five-wire = 5-pole), (3) where it is mounted (dry workshop IP44 is enough; outdoors or wash-down needs IP67). Sending a model number works too — we reply with the specification, product photo and datasheet PDF.

Can MENNEKES sockets be interchanged with other CEE brands? Check the clock position first
Interchangeability is not about the brand but four things: current, poles, clock position and IP rating. With the clock positions we verified against our own stock (110V = 4h, 230V single-phase = 6h, 400V 3-pole = 9h, 400V 4/5-pole = 6h, 500V = 7h).

16A / 32A / 63A / 125A: how to pick the rating in three steps
The rating follows the equipment current with at least 20% headroom: 16A ≈ 7.5kW, 32A ≈ 15kW, 63A ≈ 30kW, 125A ≈ 60kW (three-phase 380V). With the conversion formulas and the four commonest mistakes.
Reefer container sockets: 32A 380-440V 4-pole IP67, clock position 3h
Reefer power is its own specification: 32A, 380-440V, 4-pole (3P+earth), IP67, and clock position 3h — which does not mate with a standard 400V 4-pole 6h. Sockets, plugs, connectors, phase sequence testing and interlocks, with item numbers.
